White letter’d tires have officially jumped the shark. When semi trucks start having them, they’ve been 100% played out.
Bonus points to the trucker for mixing Goodyears and Bridgestones though.

heeellll no
Non-Luxury trucks/SUVs = white letters
Cars/Crossovers/Luxury SUVs= black wall

These have been around forever, though. I remember seeing them in the early 90s at least.

People liked sporting tires with branding visible? Interesting.

You’ll pry my raised white letter truck tires from my cold dead rims!

White wall or black wall be never the two should meet.

Now I want to see a semi with Idlers stenciled on the tires.

Depends on the vehicle.
In my opinion the standard acceptable location for white letters is non luxury trucks/SUVs

What about yellow letters?

On a racing tire that’s about to go racing?
100% approved.

Nope, white letter BFG T/As are the official shoes of the classic American muscle car.

You don’t think classic muscle cars look good with white letter BFG T/As? Because I certainly do.

Of course they do!
It sort of belongs there.

They were here, then gone, then here again so quickly, I didn't even notice. I'm still trying to get the smell of Westley's Bleche-White out of my hands after doing my mom's '88 Caravan's whitewalls!

Eh, I never like sporting logo’s. But can see how the look is nice. Just extra work keeping it clean.

We used to use an SOS pad on the Buicks.

It’s a rolling advertisement. Are you racing? Tire sponsor got your back? Do it.
Otherwise, this is as played out as Liberty Walk GT-R body kits. All show and no go.

Of course they do!
I prefer a red line tire, but yes, of course. I was only speaking of modern cars.

worth it

Then we are in total agreement. Modern cars look weird with RWL tires. It’s like putting curb feelers on them.

YEP
I’m probably going with these Cooper’s when it’s time to put them on the Montego though, I’m only motivated by cost on this one. The BFG T/A’s would be wonderful though

I’m kind of in the same boat with my Camaro. I’m looking at 235/60-15 size-wise and I’m not sure if I can justify the cost of the BFG over something like the Cooper, though with BFG that size is actually cheaper than some of the narrower sizes.

Raised whites work on many cars with big sidewalls.

In general I’m not a fan of advertising for any company, but I make an exception for raised white letter truck tires. The look just works IMO.

I need to be more observant. Definitely going to look today.

Rear: P225/70R14 ($95.97 each)
Front: P185/60R14 ($99.97 each)
Those are the sizes I’m going with, Summit pricing above. I may be able to get them cheaper through my dad down in SC though, he’s a Cooper distributor. It’s where we got our Cooper Discoverer AT/3's for the lifted Commander at a discount.
I have no intention of upgrading from drums any time soon so the 14" wheels I got paid to purchase will work out just fine (I’ll get you the link to that story if you haven’t heard it)

I thought they were just starting to come back? (am I old?)

Oddly coincidental; my father in law is refurbishing a smallish John Deer , and one of my comments was “white lettering”. He didn’t say no, but he gave me the same look his daughter does when I am being interesting.

With wheels like that it can feel free to set the standard for tire looks.
